Viral marketing does not work

It's fun (in better cases), but it does not make you go and buy stuff. So no ROI. Go tell everyone.

  1. I do not agree! Viral marketing works but can not be measured in a short-period. it is kinda image ad.

  2. You’re right. It is kinda image ad. But as you said virals can be measured in the longer run. Viral’s impact does not last so long, that something can even be measured (I agree there are some exceptions).

  3. Skype haven't had any ads for a long time and now only few video comms, over 500 mln registered users and over 500mln EUR in cash, Viral doesn't work? huh

  4. I do not believe that Skype’s Laughter Chain is the only reason for Skype’s success. Skype has a very strong product development team and it’s success is based on a good product and organic WOM, not viral ads. I believe Skype is mainly focused on targeted marketing at the moment. Or does anyone know what’s their strategy?
